Lasantha03-26 01:28 PMHi

Does any of you know if we get called for an inteview before the approval of the I-485? I have seen some posts where people were called for interviews but is this standard or do they call you only if they need to verify something?

abracadabra10209-01 08:22 PMLook my friend, there is no logic like RD vs PD. If there were I would have had my green card before most here even filed their 485s. My 485 is pending for over 4 yrs now.
I have had people with PDs after me, RDs after me, all sorts approved and I am waiting.
This is a game of luck and chance.
The USCIS process is chaotic and disorganised in the way they do things. If you are lucky you get your approval earlier, if you are not, your application languishes in some salt mine in Utah or wherever else NSC stores their pending applications.

I think I saw this in one of the ombudsman's reports to congress. A certain percentage of files are misplaced/lost every year. I have a sinking feeling - mine could be one of these. If so, I will have to wait until someone at USCIS stumbles on it :-). I agree completely with you and there is really no way to predict how USCIS processes GC's. USCIS incompetence is boundless.

santb197504-07 05:14 PMThanks for signing up. The good part about these events is they are both Walking and running events so newbies should not hesitate to Join. We picked an event in Houston because Texas had the second highest number of letters for the Admin Fix campaign :)

I am in - along with my husband (and he is going to kill me for signing him up ...he he) for the Houston 5K run - lets start with that and see if I can finish..I'll take on more if I have success with this!

BTW, there is also a kids run for children ages 5 to 15 (K - 8) - my kids won't qualify for it, but those that have kids in this age group can truly train as a family.

forever_waiting01-12 04:10 PMIt is surprising (rather shocking) to see how a discussion on an EB bill (which might never see the light of day anyway) has degenerated into an oft-repeated rant on how IV does not represent EB3.

When I meet with my lawmaker's office (and when I again meet in Feb), I repeat the IV provisions which are for ALL EB and not any specific category/country. THe problem with EB3 is the with the way the EB system/inventory is set-up. It is stupid to convert a chronic issue into a "IV is not trying" debate. As always, we have lots of armchair critics and few grass-roots workers.

If you trust IV Core and its advisory board and believe that they know how politics works better than you and me you are entitled to your opinion and you may be right too. Certainly IV Core knows how political work, there is no denying that but my point of contention is that does what ICV Core believe and are working towards match with what is good for EB3?
And there as the bard would say lies the rub

Now again in response to that you and most of the people would agree that IV Core goals is good for EB3. Now out of all the people who agree how many are EB3 and how many are EB2. Again IV Core would say many EB3 agree with what they do because IV is not about helping anyone, IV is about helping yourselves (EB3 or EB2), and when it comes to the fact of helping ourselves i for one feel that IV core would do better to listen to the EB3 voice out there. Why do i feel EB3 specific voice is not being heard? Well the answer to that is very simple. It is because EB3 as a whole has NOT seen any benefit out of the rule changes which happened till now and any new initiative which gets the support of IV.

As to your statement about below
The idea you preferred has no chance, given the harsh economic situation and anti-immigration sentiment at this time
My commnts to that is that YES it is a harsh economic situation and YES anti immigrants sentiments is on the rise but if i am an an anti immigrant i would oppose immigrants as a whole. I would not oppose EB2 immigrants less because they have MS degrees and i would not oppose EB3 less because they are stuck in the immigration process and harsh economics time is harsh for everyone (EB2 and EB3) and also citizens so the same logic of anti immigranst sentiments would apply

Reagrding your another statement
In this case, EB3 will have to wait forever. Now, which one do you like? I think people should be realistic.
What i like is not what is important. What is important is what is done is the right thing., If it is the question of EB3 waiting fore ever (say 10 years) or EB3 waiting more than forever (say 20 years) i would plum for which ever option gives relief to people (even if it extends my GC wait time) who are of older priority date and who should get relief, not because they have waited for so long but because they waited for so long in the line and followed all the rules and it is just mind blowing that people who have applied for GC in 2008 and 2010 and expecting that they deserve to get GC because they are EB2 and no other reason.

Now to that all EB2 guys will reply back saying Are you nuts, that how the world works, if you want a GC sooner get a US degree or apply in EB2 no one is stopping you and all that kinds of statements. It gets ugly too but what everyone forgets is that it is easier to be sanctimonious and give advise when you are not being effected. When you are at the other end (Remember the bottom of the totem pole) that is when you all these things come back to bite you and you cannot justify what you said earlier.

Think about it illegals want GC for everyone illegal. Legals (including IV Core among others) say we are fighting for all EB and are united but when an EB2 with 2007 priority date gets GC but an EB3 32002 is still waiting all that argument falls by the wayside and there is no unity

Ok if IV Core (And when i say IV Core i mean everyone EB2 and EB3 peiople because IV Core is nothing but the EB applicants themselves) cannot or will not try to work towards fixing the dispension of spillover visas to EB2 and EB3 equally because that is the law and the law cannot change why cannot IV Core try to implement (the keyword here is TRY whether the law pases or not is not the point) the 55 K DV to all retrogressed applicants instead of just US MS applicants. They can try to do that but they are not. So in what way is IV a representative of EB3 apprehensions and issues

rustum03-11 03:46 PMI am not sure on address.. For Child - I dont think you can add the name to your passport unless you plan not to have a separate passport for the child..

Vrbest,
Thanks for the info. In page no 2 of my passport (issued in India), there is a section "Particulars of Children included in the passport". This section is below the address section. Anyway, i don't think so adding children name is such a important thing for me. I will skip providing the children information.

shirish05-16 11:55 AMI thnk no. As I-140 is only fo ryou. not fo rhte dependants.
So as long as you are married and your spouse is in US before you file AOS you should be fine.

Do you need to be married at the time of applying I-140 to get GC in the same application ?

My question is when is the latest that one can get married so as to get his/her spouse a GC on the same application.

eastindia09-29 12:19 PMWhat the point of meeting a law maker, exchange pleasantries? They aren't going to write a Bill because 1 person said so.
Read my post again, I am legal, EB2 India I-140 approved.
Repeat, Not associated with any lawyer or party.
I am trying to get people to join together - but you can't see that.

Of course. Go and exchange pleasantries. And then talk about the fact that you do not have greencard and need a bill from them. Why is it so hard for you? Can you not lobby for yourself first? We are all doing this and need more people like you to do it. But we will not pimp like you for any lawyer. In this country bills are written by lawmakers. Not your lawyer that filed your I140. You need to meet your lawmaker to help you. That is what we all are doing here. If you add yourself, to what we are doing then one more person will add to the effort we are doing. There is already a thread for people like you waiting to file I485. Did you take notice? Stop pimping for your lawyer and join hands with everyone like you here.

smarth04-12 11:46 AMwe sent EAD renewal application thru attorney on March 16th 2010, it was delivered but didn't receive any update/ USCIS didn't withdraw the fee also till now...lot of delay it seems this year.

santb197504-12 09:38 PMI have been taking several fitness classes in Tristate area and So.Cal over the past 7 years and in every class I have taken so far the number of female participants have always outnumbered the number of male participants. Be it Kickboxing or Strength and Endurance Training. One of my co-worker has started taking Strength Training classes a couple of weeks ago only to tell me that he has new found respect for all the ladies who take those classes religiously every week. I cracked up when he told me ... he was dying to complete the class and kept lowering the weights he picked up while the ladies were going like drill sergeants

I know that females are disproportionately represented in these forums - even so.........I would like to see more women participate. Going forward, I will give $10 towards even female who signs up (upto 10 memberships). If you cannot find company, exercise with a cell phone and pepper spray on you.

gsc99909-19 07:18 PMThere are thousands of anecdotes that I could share. My best is the look of shock on one of the IV member's face when I asked him to escort one of the lawmakers who attended the Monday evening reception dinner. We couldn't believe that we see him on C-Span and he is standing next to us and supporting our cause.
- Can you imagine the feeling when a lawmakers says I know about you guys. You are doing a good job. This shows we are visible in the Hill.
- I felt great when I saw the confidence on the smiling faces of IV members when they came out of lawmakers meetings. For those who missed this historic opportunity, I can't even begin to explain the change in mindset from the initial apprehension about visiting a lawmaker's office to, "Why do I only have three meetings set up, I want to fill in for others IV members who might not have shown up due to various reasons"

For those demanding immediate results when they themselves might not have showed up at the rally the answer is, we will get our green cards eventually. There is absolutely no doubt about that in my mind but these experiences and memories will be cherished for a long time. This is also important to me. This new "experience capital" which was initially present among just the core members has trickled down to other members, we are growing in strength and reach our goal soon.

I am glad I went for three days. I wish I could stay longer.
